Here
are the friendly faces you will see at Pediatric Dentistry...
The doctors that work at Pediatric Dentistry are pediatric
dentists Dr. Moore, Dr. Hwang, and general dentist Dr. Dunlap.
They have some very important people that work with them who
would like to be your friends.
Let's
pretend that you are visiting their offices... |
When you walk in the door the first person to say hello to is
Andrea, Sally, Marguerite, or Anna at the front desks. They will
tell the doctors that you have arrived. |
| |
Then you will meet one of the doctor's hygienists, Valerie,
Carol, or Sondra. She will show you where to go. She will clean
and count your teeth and get you ready to see one of the
doctors. |

Cool
stuff you will see... |
| |
We have chairs that move up and down like an elevator. |
| |
A big light above the chair that helps the doctors see into your
mouth. |
| |
We also have a special room with a special camera that we use to
take x-rays (pictures) of your teeth. The x-rays help the
doctor see if you have any cavities (Cavity Creeps). |
There
are some other friends you will meet at the office... |
| |
Say hello to Mirror and Tooth Counter, two instruments used to
see, count, and check your teeth for (Sugar Bugs) the Cavity
Creeps. |
| |
Next you will meet Tickle Brush, which we use to clean your
teeth, along with his pals Ms. Water Sprayer who rinses off the
toothpaste and Mr. Slurpy who will drink up the water and clean
the the toothpaste and bubbles out of your mouth so you don't
have to swallow them. |

Healthy teeth tips... |
| |
Because we all like to eat snacks, it is important to remember
to eat snacks that are good for you such as fruit, raw veggies,
and cheese. It is okay to have cookies and candy every now and
then but you must remember to brush your teeth as soon as you
can. All sweet snacks leave sticky stuff on your teeth called
"plaque". Plaque causes cavities or little holes in your teeth.
| |
It is good to brush after every meal or at least two times a
day, morning and night. Make sure to use a toothpaste that
contains fluoride to help keep your teeth strong. By brushing
at least twice a day, you can keep the sticky stuff (plaque) off
of you teeth. Keeping the plaque off of your teeth will help to
keep the Cavity Creeps away! |
| |
To keep Cavity Creeps from hiding in between your teeth you
should use floss. Floss is a thin piece of string that helps
keep your teeth clean. Have one of your parents help you floss
between your teeth. Then move the floss up and down against the
side of each tooth to remove the Cavity Creeps. |
If you brush and floss
every day, the Cavity Creeps won't have any place to hide.
Without your teeth, it
would be very hard to chew food. That is why it is so important
to take care of your teeth and gums.
